Renge - Ouran Host Club

Made in August 09.

This is one of those dresses where, unless you are 2D or TINY, you look like a big yellow blimp. Sooo...some liberties were taken with the design (in consult with client). Rather than separate bodice and skirt pieces, the lines are smooth and unbroken, with a flared hem. Same with the sleeves - instead of poofy little caps, they're leg o' mutton styled to avoid the extra seam at the upper arm. The fabric was another ridiculously difficult-to-find shade - I ended up again having to dye some white cotton. I don't understand why this is so hard to find! The collar pieces were shaped and caught into the collar seam, and the dress closes with a center-back invisible zip. The bows are fairly self-explanatory :)

All photos by me - shot at Auckland Armageddon, 2009.
