Sheryl Nome - Macross Frontier

Commissioned in December '09.

Quite a simple design, but I had a bit of fun getting the dress to fit right! I ended up having to borrow a smaller dressform from a friend of mine (and then keeping it for months *cough*) to do it properly. The client requested I leave out the tassel detail at center front, and not to include the gold motifs on the dress.

The dress and jacket were both made from a medium-weight stretch satin. Dress was modified from a princess-lined dress pattern, and closes with a zip at the side seam. Slit edges are bound with satin, and the frog closures were ordered from Hong Kong - which was retarded, because it was cheaper to order a pack of ten and pay postage than it was to buy TWO locally! Not that I could find any suitable anyway, but hey. It was stupid. I also tried dyeing some cheaper ones, in the vain hope that they were rayon or nylon (and thus dyeable), but alas. It was not to be! Jacket was likewise altered from an existing pattern. Overall, quite simple, but satisfying :)

All photos by me - on my crappy little tiny!cam. I can't remember why I didn't have my big camera with me that day, but sadly I didn't get any decent photos. Sadface!
